The post below was dated September 16, 2025 and was written on Yvonne Krul’s Facebook wall by a friend of hers named Rolf Henneken.
Friends and girlfriends of Yvonne,
Unfortunately I have to inform you that Yvonne Krul has passed away completely unexpectedly.
Her funeral will take place on Wednesday 17 September at 11.30 am in the Pioenroos van Dela Ockenburgh, Ockenburghstraat 21 in The Hague.
I would like to invite you to come as a friend of Yvonne.

Hearing this news was shocking and upsetting.
I’ve known Yvonne ever since I was in college in the late 1970s. She was an exchange student from the Netherlands during my senior year of college 1977-78.
She was just a very nice person.
Every year, since 1978, Yvonne had sent me holiday cards. I don’t believe she missed a year. I wish now that I had saved every one of her holiday cards.
In June of 2018, Yvonne took a trip to the USA and Colorado, and asked to stay in our Colorado Springs condo. During that trip, we got to reunite. I remember scootering all over the Colorado College campus with Yvonne and also visiting the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo with her and having lunch at Poor Richard’s with some of our other Colorado College friends (Liz and Beth). We also went ice skating together. She visited my late father’s mountain home in Larkspur.
After that trip, Yvonne bought a scooter! I inspired her to do that.
Yvonne returned to the USA in May of 2024 and again stayed in our condo. She took us out to dinner at Jose Muldoon’s a restaurant she had gone out to eat with friends from CC in the 1970s. We also went hiking with Yvonne in Cheyenne Canyon and had coffee together after. We also did more scootering around Colorado College. Yvonne brought us gifts including personalized monogrammed towels from the Netherlands.

She talked about returning to the United States again and also showing us around Holland. Yvonne is/was like me…she had a way of connecting people.
During her May 2024 trip, her birthday occurred and she arranged a birthday dinner with other Colorado College friends in Denver (Liz and Nick). She also reached out via phone to my friend Frank.

To hear the news of her sudden passing has been a shock to all of us who knew her.
Our mutual friend Liz reached out to Yvonne’s friend Rolf. It seems that Yvonne was found in her bed not alive on September 16. The cause of death is a mystery.
Yvonne: I wish I could just call or write you and tell you how much I appreciated your friendship. Rest in peace.
